About the Global Fund
The Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria is an international funding mechanism that seeks to combat three diseases that kill 6 million people every year. It provides over 20% of all international funding for AIDS, 64% of all funding for TB, and 67% of all funding for malaria.

Since 2003 it has distributed grants worth $3.7bn in 132 countries, with key successes including:
- 1.1 million people receiving treatment for HIV
- 2.8 million people receiving treatment for TB
- 30 million insecticide-treated bed nets distributed to protect against malaria
In total, the Global Fund estimates that programmes supported by their funding have saved 1.8 million lives to date. With greater support, it could save many more.
